I’ve been slammed at work, and trying to get everything done before we leave for the weekend. We’re going camping, YAY! I got my test results back on Monday, and everything is good. No bad cancer, YAY!
So just a YAY YAY YAY to everything and everyone, and have a great weekend.
Living in the city can be a drag. The city lights are so bright that you can’t see the stars, and I hate that. It’s especially bad living here in Las Vegas, where the skies look like daylight all the time from the light pollution of the casinos. This is one of the main reasons we go camping a lot, just to see the stars. Going to MeatStock and SoupStock with the local Dark Skies people here in town has been a blast also. They enjoy the night skies just like we do, and they know how to have fun.
If you live in Florida, you should make an effort to hit up the 5th Annual Dark Sky Festival in Harmony’s Town Square, in Harmony, Florida on Saturday, April 5, 2008. It will be a fun filled night looking through telescopes into the night sky with good friends and plenty of food to share.
There will be a special kids zone that will include a speaker talking about Myths in the Night. This is a great educational opportunity for kids to learn and grow up being earth conscience adults.
Oh and did I mention the best part? The special musical guest is going to be Rare Earth! Remember them from the Motown years? I just want to celebrate…another day of living….great song!
I’m not sure if you are aware of this or not, but do you know that our wildlife actually relies on the night darkness to survive?
“The Dark Sky Festival is intended to celebrate and promote the benefits of a night-sky free from the effects of excessive artificial lighting,” said Greg Golgowski, Harmony’s Conservation Director and a key member of the Dark Sky Festival Planning Committee. “Poor outdoor lighting not only washes out the splendor of the heavens, but also reduces visibility at night, wastes energy, and disturbs wildlife.”

My mother sent me a picture of where I grew up today.

It looks pretty, but I sure don’t miss it.
I miss smoking though. HA! Day 4 today…
Today was a pretty average Tuesday. I’ve built several keyword specific Squidoo lenses for my company, and I’m receiving about 10 leads a day from them, with a 70% conversion on the close. That’s pretty spectacular, and I’m getting some good feedback from the Pres. I don’t know about you, but building Squidoo lenses (amongst other internet marketing angles) for a living is pretty sweet. It’s still a hella drive though!
Speaking of drive, this is what I saw on my way home tonight. A beautiful sunset on one side of the freeway, and the sunset reflecting off the Wynn and the Trump Towers on the other side.
And this is what I saw when I got home tonight. A beautiful bouquet of roses from Deb just because she was thinking of me. Awwwwww!
Las Vegas, sunsets, casinos, Wynn Las Vegas, Trump Towers Las Vegas, roses, friendship
It took me for-EVER to get to work this morning. Apparently, all the people that commute to work in Las Vegas didn’t get a chance to look at the fire damage on the Monte Carlo in real life over the weekend, so they all took the same freeway this morning to get a quick look.
It was dead stopped on the freeway with people hanging out the windows with cameras, and cell phones. So I figured…when in Rome, and took a couple pictures for myself. I totally forgot I had a sun roof I could have opened to get a better shot. Ignore the semi dirty windshield.
Then I saw a rainbow, that went all across The Strip. Here is the beginning and ending of the rainbow. I’m not sure which is which though
That was the most excitement I had this fine Monday. How about you?
