Continuing on with my by now pay later discussion that I had with my son, I decided to look into getting a debt loan for us, and try to get out from underneath the ever mounting pile of bills that we have. Every thing I have read online says that interest rates are just going to continue to climb, and it leaves me wondering if now is the time to get a loan, and lock in an interest rate before it all gets out of control. Did you know that unsecured debt is highest amongst people in their early thirties? This is just not where I want my kid to be someday.

I found a really good article on consolidation loans. Basically what it says that taking out a consolidation loan is going to leave you with an even larger debt. It makes you think you are doing the better thing because you are paying back smaller amounts a month, but in the long run, the amount you are paying back is a lot. There was also a good article on pawn shops. I was just saying the other day that pawn shops have to make a killing in my town because of all the people with gambling problems. So at this point, I’m just not sure on the route we are going to take to get our lives back in order.

On top of the gym membership JR wants to purchase with his first paycheck, he was also inquiring about credit cards this morning. He wanted to know how they worked, and why it is so easy to get one for some people, and hard to get one for others. He had been online looking at different credit card comparison sites. I was explaining credit to him, and how you can have good credit, and how you can have bad credit. He then of course asked me how my credit was, and it was then that I realize I am not the best person to give financial advice to someone who is just starting out. All I could do was explain to him my mistakes, and hope he learns from it.

My mistake in getting credit cards after my divorce, was the thought that I wouldn’t use them much, and pay off the balance at the end of the month. Well it takes greater willpower to do that than I will ever possess, because when the bills came, I said screw it, and paid the minimum. I ordered all kinds of things online, that if I had to pay cash for, I would have never ordered. Not to mention that the trip to Chicago would have only cost around $2000, but with interest it actual cost me close to $4000.

So the best advice I could give him was to get a credit card that had no revolving debt, or interest free credit cards. Get a card that you know has to be paid in full at the end of the month. That will stop you from spending money you don’t have, keep your bills low, and gain credit in the process.

Now that JR is at that age, he’s bouncing back and forth between a military career, and going to college. I don’t have his college fund anymore, which I can’t even begin to get into here, so he will most definitely need student loans if he is planning on going down that path.

The best thing I could have ever done was a student loan consolidation. They combined all three of my loans, lowered the interest rate, and brought my payment down to around $80.00 a month. Granted, I owed a lot of money and I will be paying on my student loans for years to come, but student loan consolidation was the way to go. If you haven’t looked into that option for your student loans, you really should. It was a life saver for me.

Some of you may remember when I posted earlier this year about my identity theft issue I’ve been having. Well I just got a collection agency letter in the mail for parking tickets to the city of Las Vegas. I called them up immediately, and apparently these tickets happened after I sold my Jeep.

Once again, I have to write an affidavit and find a notary signing agent to have it notarized saying that I am not responsible for this debt. There are some days like today when all this mess just overwhelms me, and it reduces me to tears.

With all the notarized items I have had to have done, I need a service like, National Mobile Notary Directory - Your quickest link to professional notaries nationwide!, that sends a public notary right to my door. Not only can search for one for private matters like mine, but they can come out to your business as well. And if you are a notary public, you can sign up with them to have your name listed for service.

Either in business or in the home there may come a time when you need projector rentals. In the home you ask? Well, a long time ago I knew this girl that used a projector that she had rented, to project Disney characters on her daughter’s bedroom wall. She then traced around the image, and later painted it. I always thought that was the most brilliant idea ever. I guess that’s why I remember it almost 7-8 years later. I know she rented hers locally in her town, but you can also rent them online at Projector123.com. So if your a business professional in need of a projector for an upcoming meeting, or a mom who wants to paint pictures on your kids bedroom wall, you can rent them easily enough. They offer high-quality LCD projectors, with FedEx delivery anywhere in the U.S., so you can rent it today, and have it tomorrow.
