Today’s search was books.

books

This comes from lalagirl’s Flickr stream.

“Coloring Clifford. (And, a couple of board books, too. Whoops! Sorry, Barnes & Noble! But you’re the ones providing crayons to little kids!!)”

I always randomly search for these pictures, and I was surprised to see one of my blogging buddies come up in my search! The picture of her children was so cute, I just had to use it!

Since I plowed through my book that I brought with me to Chris’s house on the airplane she gave me the book Dish and Tell: Life, Love, and Secrets to read on the way home. It’s written by six 40-something females from Florida that coin themselves the Miami Bombshells. They write about their jobs, husbands, boyfriends, lovers, family members, and children. The group is made up of high-powered executives, a TV producer, an Emmy-winning broadcaster and a school social worker It’s fun to read how they have the same problems and concerns we do.

The one that struck me the closest to home was when one of the girls is divorced and she has to travel a lot for her job. So when she is home she makes up for her absence by buying her children anything and everything they would ever want. This indulgence is something I think we as working parents all do out of guilt. I can certainly raise my hand and say, “guilty!”

My boyz can live without the Krew jeans, the Baker and Element shirts, the Xbox 360, and the high dollar video cards. They don’t need new skateboards every month be cause the tail is worn and they can’t land their tricks the way they should be landed with a new board.

I bet every parent reading this is guilty of these things we do to make up for the long hours we work. Tell me your story…

I love to read. Between my boyfriend and I we own over 1000 books. Some are in the house and some are still in boxes in the garage. Most of those would be his, but we share cause we love each other like that ;) We usually spend around $200.00 a month on books at Borders and we really need to start buckling down that spending as we’re saving for this thing called a bigger house! (to house all our books of course) The site CheapBooks.com is a life saver. They have daily book related news, research into online book buying, and an extensive book title search. It is great for buying those books you need for school.

Has anyone read any Lauren Myracle books? Okay, so I found them in the Young Adult section at Borders, but I found them to look interesting so I bought one. I got TTYL which is written entirely in instant messages. It’s the first novel of it’s kind so maybe it will be worth something one day ;) I’m going to buy the sequel when it comes out in paperback, TTFN.

I woke up super early this morning only because someone forgot to turn off the alarm that awakes us for work during the week. I messed around drinking coffee and reading my emails, then I decided to go lay down and read my book, Lamb by Christopher Moore.

It’s all about Jesus’s life from the moment he was born in the manger to the time the Bible decides to bring him back. It’s so hilarious, and something you have to take with a grain of salt if you are in the least bit religious and believe in that kind of thing.

I fell back to sleep around 9:00am and had a dream that Johnny called me from a shipping crate that he had packed himself into to get a free ride to the East Coast.
