I got the cutest book the other day to review here on my blog, and I also have a copy to giveaway to one of my readers.
It’s called Dirty Bow Wow: A Tribute to Dogs and the Objects of Their Affection written by Cheryl and Jeffrey Katz. The book is just adorable and if you are a dog lover you will really enjoy the 50 full-color, all-breed canine portraits, each posed with a favorite play toy and accompanied by an affectionate anecdote.
To celebrate the books release the Dirty Bow Wow Dog Toy Drive starts May 2009 at bookstores across the country. It’s your chance to help shelter dogs find the toy of their dreams, and hopefully a permanent, loving home. Here is a list of retailers who are collecting dog toy donations or hosting events. Drop off a new dog toy at the location nearest you, and aid a dog in need today!

mindy on 8 May, 2009 at 4:35 am well not at present but many years ago one of my dogs favorite toys was the other dog. she was a bitty thing when i got her just 3/4 of a pound and he would tote her around and play catch with her with her being the item caught

She grips them with her paws and “arms” and carefully works and works with her jaws (I’ve heard this is an ecstastic feeling for dogs) to get those eyes out! So I try to buy inexpensive stuffed animals so she can do this again and again, and praise her when she does, and she is VERY proud of her accomplishments in this area! – Thanks for the great giveaway book!

Leslie on 13 May, 2009 at 5:49 am Bella likes soft toys, even though she’s a large dog who would look like she’d shred them. However, she has a very “soft mouth” and will lovingly handle them. Sadly, she’s lost all but one of her soft toys due to the more rough treatment my boyfriend’s dog has given them now that they hang out together. Sometimes I see her wistfully looking at the last one and wishing she still had Cat in the Hat, Rudy, Snowy, and the others.

One of my boys, his favorite toys are paper towel and toilet tissue rolls. Cheap entertainment, I tell ya. He stalks the rolls and knows when they’re about empty. Silly boy.
My other two boy pups could really care less about toys, they’re treat hounds and will take a bone over a new toy any day.
