In December of 2000 I got my second tattoo. I got it on my lower back, because at that time it was a pretty cool spot to get one, and they hadn’t coined the term “Tramp Stamp” yet. (LOL!) I’ve always liked Cicely Mary Barker’s flower fairies, so I got her “Jasmine Flower Fairy” tattooed on my back.
It’s kind of weird having a tattoo on my lower back because I rarely ever see it, and half the time I just forget I have it. I’ve been out partying before and my shirt will come up a bit on my back and someone will say, “Hey, let me see your tattoo,” and I have to think for a second what the hell they are talking about.
The other day I had Michael take a picture of it, because it’s so hard for me to really see it up close for obvious reasons. I am far from a Cirque De Soleil performer, so I figured it would be cool to see it in on my wide screen monitor.
I was pretty disappointed. The colors have faded so much in the past nine years and it just doesn’t look as pretty as it use to. Her eye use to be so defined, and her little toe nails and fingernails were painted and so dainty looking.
Do you have any tattoos? Have they faded over the years? Have you gotten it re-touched? Do you wish you never got it? Is it a tramp stamp? (LOL)

that’s pretty jules
I’m obsessed with getting another tattoo. I’ve had a faerie picked out for years, but have also thought about something related to my blog…but that might be too geeky.
Both of my current tattoos are plain black. I have a tramp stamp and another on my right hip. The one on my hip needs some serious retouching since my weight has yo-yo’ed and it’s something I’m going to do once I get this weight off for good.

This is my response, take 2.
I think the color looks just lovely. Especially for 9 years into the piece. If you are concerned, however, it could very easily be touched up.
I have 13 tattoos total, most of which are very large pieces. I do not regret any of them. Started my collection 11 years ago and am currently building out my sleeves.
My second one is fading a little but, like yours, is easily brought back to life.
I don’t think it’s a tramp stamp at all. The phrase is a stigma which attaches itself to people with trashy character and even worse tattoos. You are not and have not.
I have 3 tats. 1 on my right outer calf, heart/rose/dagger through heart, non-colored.
A green eye, colored, over left breast with a skull in the pupil.
Right arm has a huge wild lily, colored, it was a cover up of a hand done tat my ex-husband did.
I don’t regret any of them except for the tat my ex did, but it’s covered so I can’t even see it any longer, nobody can tell it’s a cover up, even other tattooists.
My eye faded a bit so I had it recolored with some new kind of ink an artist had, and it hasn’t faded again in like 6 years.
None of the others have faded at all.

I have 5 tattoos. I got my first one at 18, and, well, they’re just so darn addictive! I have one on each shoulder blade, one on my lower back, one on the middle of my upper back, and one on the under side of my left wrist. The only question is “Where will the next one be?”

I have one, it’s part of an ocean scene and is 2 dolphins on my outer right ankle. I like it because the dolphins don’t have outlines so they don’t look all cartoonish.

I think the phrase “tramp stamp” is just a phrase that states the location. I don’t think people think of it being on a tramp.
My mom had just had her first tattoo re-colored and it really brought it back to life. None of her others have faded, but I guess the type of ink the first artist used wasn’t the best quality.

I have one tat on my left ankle, a fairy sitting on a crescent moon with a few stars around it. I got it in July 2003. It has faded a bit, but the colors are still pretty vibrant. My 18 yo dd just got her first tat. Her dad is practically sleeved and has tats all over. It was inevitable.

I have one and want to get more but can’t because of the meds I’m on. I’m not happy about it, but I’d rather be alive than have another tat.

I would love to have one but my mom don’t like it and since I am a good daughter, I will listen.. But when I will have my own place, I will surely have one! LOL
When I was a kid, I used to hear to elders that it might affect my blood when putting a tats.. That I might not donate blood, is that true?

But they they will want to redo as the outline has faded – ouch!

No tatts for me! I have enough punctures and scars damage to even think of paying someone to poke me, even for decorative purposes.
I think the faded look is appropriate for this tatt. Makes it look like a children’s book illustration from days gone by.

A girl stabbed me with a pencil in third grade. I am 40 now and the spot is still pretty distinct. I don’t now why pencil stabbings haven’t become the new cool body mod by now.

nice tattoo
I think it is quite normal to regret a tattoo now and then
but hey, your tat doesn’t look like a tramp stamp tattoo, it is very nice indeed. I find it very feminine. Graceful, delicate and beautiful. And yes, I have got my tattoo retouched after some years. I think it is normal, too. Your fairy still looks quite well defined, though. You could wait some more years before retouching it.
It must be a great tattoo 9 years ago. Why don’t you try to ink it again? Who knows it will shine back like it used to?
I think it looks just fine and a color touch up could make it look even better, but it really comes down to how it makes YOU feel. Thanks!Tattoo Fade
