Thanks Hildy, I appreciate that coming from you, and especially since you are a teacher. He had over 35 kids in one class and between paperwork, grading, attendance, and discipline, the teacher had about 20 minutes for actually class time learning.greets to you all!!!

Thanks Karen! I am definitely learning new things! I can read a topography map now, and I know what all the lines and contours mean!

(I don’t remember doing that in Earth Science, do you?)

Trisha – he does have an older brother who is a senior in high school, so it’s almost like he is getting the “experience” through him and his friends. They are all really close.

I most definitely will keep on eye on it though. My HS years were torture for me, but his bio-father says those were the greatest years of his life.

Maybe he’s leaning towards the “me” in that area of his life.

That's really cool of you. My husband was home schooled every grade except 6th & 7th. One thing he complains of is that he didn't get the traditional high school experience, so that might be something to keep an eye on. Good luck! Lisa, like I said in a reply to one of my readers above, he was bored in school which led him to goof off and not learn.

He had over 35 kids in one class and between paperwork, grading, attendance, and discipline, the teacher had about 20 minutes for actually class time learning. (this is not the teachers fault at all, it’s the system)

At home he can get a 6 hour school day done in about 3-4 hours and actually learn something.

Hey Jules,

I’m wondering why you decided to homeschool? If you don’t mind me asking that is. I’m contemplating taking my child out of the public school system and homeschooling him myself. Although I’m not sure if I’d have enough time to dedicate to it. How much time do you dedicate to it everyday?
