It’s the end of another year, and man did this one go by fast for me. I really wish there was a way to slow them down. I guess that’s good though. I’m enjoying life so much I don’t want it to pass by quickly, right? Shrugs…I dunno.

So, back to my question. How are you planning on spending New Years Eve? We’ve got big plans of a picnic in bed, champagne toast at midnight, and a marathon game of Little Big Planet.

My most favorite app of the year has definitely been Twitter. The enormous reach it has across the internet is amazing. I’ve read news breaking stories on Twitter before the networks even pick them up. From the devastating tornado that wiped Parkersburg, Iowa off the map, to the first hand twitters of hostages being held in Mumbai India.

I’ve reconnected with long lost internet friends, and have made new internet friends along the way. I’ve even developed friendships with local Las Vegas/Henderson Nevada Twitter’ers.

Since my love for Twitter is huge, I thought I would give a shout out to the 25 people that I love to follow on Twitter with links so you can follow them too. I love to follow them for all different reasons, from great news sources, humorous tweets, thought-provoking tweets, and just fun to read tweets.

Sears I had 451 entries into my Sears – Don’t Just Give A Gift Grant A Wish contest on my blog. It’s been the best contest outcome that I’ve had here on Julie’s Journal and a lot of fun.

I had a great time reading all the things that people would buy if they won the $100 Sears gift card, and now comes to time to grant someones wish! Ted Murphy from IZEA made the winner announcement on TedTube just a few minutes ago, and you can watch the show here.

Were you the winner? You’ll have to watch TedTube to find out!

JUST KIDDING!!! (But you should watch it, he’s a funny guy)

The winner of my Sears $100 gift card is…Jeanette Malan and she said she would buy the Kodak 9.2MP Digital Camera, EasyShare C913 – Pink Sears item# 00353288000!

CONGRTULATIONS! I will be contacting you through the email you entered on your comment.

Wikipedia Needs Help I think every single person that surfs the internet has came across Wikipedia at one time or another. It is a massive wealth of information, and I reference it about 5-6 times a day.

Jimmy Wales the Wikipedia founder has made an appeal asking for donations to keep the site going. Since they have been so helpful to me in my daily life I decided to donate to them, and I think you should consider it as well.

Millions of people around the world will learn something new on Wikipedia today. Your donation helps the Wikimedia Foundation sustain Wikipedia and deliver new and innovative global programs to improve our quality, reach, and levels of participation.

How is the revenue spent?

  1. To support the continued operation of Wikipedia and our other free knowledge projects (by paying for servers, hosting, bandwidth, and operations staff)
  2. To continue the development of the open source software powering our projects
  3. To respond to requests from our volunteer community
  4. To support the growth and impact of our international volunteer community and the content in our projects through key events like Wikimania and Wikipedia Academies, through strategic partnerships, and through the cultivation of local chapters around the world
  5. To pay for financial, administrative, legal, and fundraising expenses

Please consider donating to Wikipedia and keep it ad free!
