Family meals are great because they are healthier than eating out. They bring the family together, which is a major part that’s missing out of many families now-a-days. I think it’s what goes into the family meal that is the most important though. All of the preparations of making the meal (hopefully together also), then having the kids set the table. Whether it’s setting up plates on the table, pouring the beverages, folding the napkins, being a “taster,” or just keeping the cook company, having a role lets the children know their contributions count and helps them to feel part of the family activity. Family meals are basically a nice well-rounded activity that adds a great touch to family life.
