It’s that time of year again when the holidays creep up on us, and before you know it we’ll be saying Happy New Year 2009! Every year it’s exactly like that for me. It seems that Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas are all over in the blink of an eye. And in all honesty, I am not a big holiday person. It always seems like a chore to me, but this year I’m going to change all that. I’m going to enjoy the holidays and make them the best they have ever been.
The main reason I have set this goal is for my son J.R. He will be joining the military after he graduates in May 2009, and there is a very good chance he will be deployed to Iraq or Afghanistan. If that is the case, then it’s also a very good chance that this will be the last holiday season that he will be at home with his family for awhile. I want it to be one that he will remember, for him, and for me.
This year GalleryCollection.com has announced that they have donated 180,000 personalized holiday cards to Soldiers’ Angels. These cards will be used in holiday gift baskets delivered to our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. They want to make sure that no solider goes unloved or forgotten during this time. What an amazing sentiment that says, “May No Soldier Go Unloved.”
Before you get ready to purchase your holiday cards this season, make sure to look at the selection at GalleryCollection.com first. I love to shop at companies like this that give back to help charities and causes. And this particular cause is really hitting home for me this year.

Awesome find Julie! I will for sure be considering holiday cards from this company for the very same reason as you. My son, is preparing to join the NAVY very, very soon (he wants to be a SEAL). I am both incredibly terrified and immensely proud. I am hopeful he will still be here with me for Christmas this year!
Stacie, I sure know that terrified/proud feeling you speak of. I hope you get to spend Christmas with him this year!
VERY VERY cool!!! I love companies that do this and will definitely bookmark the site for when I go to purchase my holiday cards! Thanks for the info!
And to both you and Stacie, thank you for raising young men who make the choice/sacrifice to serve their country! You have the right to be extremely proud of them! I am eternally grateful for the men and women in our armed fources, and I will keep both of your families in my thoughts!
Holly, that is so very sweet, thank you so much!
you’re a wonderful mom and must have done everything right to instill such great values in him to serve his nation with pride.
have a great christmas in advance!

My son is still 2, but I just can’t imagine what it would feel like if I knew he was joining the military with a near-certain chance of him being deployed to a conflict zone.
Hope everything will be ok for him.
I think that it is important to support companies that have some kind of positive social ethic. I will certainly have a look at this one.
Buying from a company like this is good. If you want to buy books, try betterworld.com. They deliver for free in the US and the money they get from the sales are used to fund global literacy campaign.

I’m sure your son will appreciate everything you have done and will do for him until he leaves. Maybe you’ll get lucky and he won’t have to go. they go though a lot of training before going over there.
I’m sure the soldiers will appreciate it, and good luck to your son. He’s a brave fella.
It is great see companies like this. It is so important to support our troops. They fight for us every single day.

I understand! My son leaves this November! I was a military wife for over 20 years…. It is hard to be alone in a strange place during the holidays!

What a wonderful thing GalleryCollection.com and Soldier’s Angels are doing. Our soldiers need to know how much we appreciate them.
This is a really nice initiative. I must be really hard for any family to have a son/daughter in a war.

There are some great programs like these out there to remind our sons and daughters that we do still love and pray for them.
