I got a lot of great suggestions in comments and emails from you guys about The Puppy Who Won’t Pee Outside, and I’d like to thank you! Before I was able to read any of the comments, I took him outside when we woke up and he did his #1 AND #2 business.

Unfortunately I didn’t have a treat ready for him outside like Corrin suggested, but I’ve got them all ready for the next time. I’m also going to follow Jenn and Teriss’s advice by watching when he eats, and taking his accidents outside to show him where I want him to leave them. I’ll just dig out my gloves and tweezers for that job.

Man this puppy stuff is hard work. Who’s idea was this to tell the kids they could get a chihuahua anyway? Oh yeah…never mind.

The little guy is smart, so I don’t think that is a problem. (I was amazed when looking for his bone I asked him where it was. He went between the desk and bookcase and brought it out!)

Yeah! That’s great news. Puppies are much smarter than they let on. He’ll get with the program full-time soon.

That is great news Julie, so glad its working for you. Yep, pups can go for 3 hrs, some less or some more. As your dog ages, it will go longer periods, but walking, exercise, and good food will keep kidneys healthy. Cheers, Teri

Yay! That’s great news! Go ahead and invest in a huge box of disposable gloves. Glad you mentioned gloves b/c I need to add those to my list of stuff I need for the beach. *Grumbles about pooper scooping on vacation*

I didn’t realize you had a new puppy. I thought it was JR’s girlfriend’s dog. Congrats on the new baby.

Karen – you are 100% right, but since she lives here with us, it’s become my dog. I guess they thought it would be “cute” to get a puppy, but they forgot about all the work it would take.
