Michael and I took Lil Chief to the dog park for the first time. Not only was it Lil Chief’s first dog park visit, it was also mine. I wasn’t sure how the dog park rules work, but I was quickly reprimanded by another dog owner how I shouldn’t baby the puppy and let him down off my lap. So yeah, I had to get a picture of one of the other dogs sniffing her butt. HA!

He was really scared at first, and hung out on my lap for the most part. After about 30 minutes he decided he wanted to get down and run around with the other dogs. They might have been bigger than him, but he was definitely faster than them. That little guy can run FAST!

He did his business, and I made Michael use the little baggie to pick it up and throw it away. There was a lab puppy who took a liking to him, but he was a little too rough in his play, so Lil Chief hung out at my feet trying to get away from him.

I guess they are open at night also because they have fancy lights all around the park. Not as fancy as maxim lighting, but you get the idea. This is Green Valley after all, and they are trying to be all upscale and classy. Even at the dog park.

Aw he’s so cute. Our puppy loves the dog park but he thinks he’s a Saint Bernard and tries to play with the big dogs even though he’s only 11 pounds.

Im just so scared that he’ll bite someone.. he’s a bit possessive and easily gets jealous when some dogs come near me.. ;)

That’s awesome that you take Lil Chief to the dog park. Since I work at home, I hear the neighbor dogs barking all day on their leashes and it breaks my heart! Sometimes I walk over just to pet them and give them a treat. I guess I (and my shih-poo, Sissy) should appreciate the fenced yard and doggy door.

Bevs - oh that might be a problem, but it also may help just to take him for a short amount of time to get him use to it.

KMS - I use to do that at my old house. They would go to work and leave their dogs outside in the heat. I checked on them at least 3 times a day.

Aw, he is so adorable!
It is understandable that if he never been into the park before that he is a little scared, who wouldn’t :)
He is a brave little dog :D
I love dogs, I got a granda nois (not sure if it is spelled right) myself, she is 4 years now though, but everytime she comes out she is always acting like she is a puppy again, because she just loves it so much :)

It is funny to see one of the worlds biggest dogs start acting like a little puppy lol..

But it is a really cute dog you got there :)

Although we haven’t taken then to a doggy park, we have taken our four dogs to a regular park a few times. The one we’ve taken them to has a large “meadow” type area that the dogs love to roll and play in. You’re not supposed to let them off their leash, but many people still do.

Like Lisa, I think it’s funny you were “yelled at”! Keep taking him back, I’m sure you’ll both come to look forward to it!

Love the pictures :) But I do get sick of other dog owners giving advice at the dog park.

Sounds like he’s a bit of a Mummys boy at heart. Although he seemed to do well for his first experience and I hope he enjoys his next visit. Aren’t dogs embarrasing the way they sniff each others bottoms.

We don’t even have a dog part around here anyplace, but then again, we don’t have a dog anymore either :(

Such a cute dog! My little sisters have chihuahuas and they are the sweetest dogs, but do tend to be scared to do new things at first.

Gorgeous coat of fur on your dog! Dog parks can be a challenge sometimes, but if they are not to busy can be great for your dogs socialization skills!

The first time we brought our dog to the dog park all the other dogs came over to say hi which made my wife nervous. She decided to pick up our dog and carry her which was a bad idea because that caused the big dogs to jump up on my wife. I finally convinced her to put the dog down and let the dogs sort things out. After that all was fine.
