Bailout 2008, a poem by David Jeffrey

Like a bloodied warrior,
laying broken and torn.

Like a dying soldier, hopeless and forlorn.

But the blood, it be green,
the color of money.

And the soldier is an economy,
and it is anything but funny.

Broken are it's people and shattered are their dreams.

Thanks to the ultra rich and their full proof schemes.

It is a tragedy with more pain to come.

Finance will be Hell, and their wills will be done.

The auto bailout/loan program has been applied for by a number of energy and alternative energy car companies besides GM and Ford so don't kill it off as there are some great companies in there too that you don't hear about in the news.....

How about a stimulus, bailout, the taxpayer gets relief too package?

Why am I bailing out my creditors?

If the taxpayers of America are expected to recapitalize the US and possibly the World financial markets why not try a semi-market based solution? Allow the taxpayer to de-leverage some of their personal debt, while bailing out creditors and infusing capital into the market.

How?

Everyone that has paid payroll taxes in anyone of the last 5 years gets a $10,000 check from the pool of money to bailout Wall Street to use to pay PRINCIPAL only on home loans, credit card debt or student loans.
Any excess can be used in a retirement account or other long-term deposit.
This will help with recapitalization, the short/long issue, and to help Americans
get out from some the mountain of debt we have taken on as our incomes have stalled.

America taxpayers need to feel they are getting something personally out of this.
I don’t own a home. Why am I helping my landlord?

Then the government wont be picking the winners and losers all by themselves.
Lets show some faith in Capitalism. I believe we are fighting feudalist that use terrorism to drive out capitalism and all the freedom to choose for your self that
it brings.

This is a very American solution.

Me, as an individual, I get to reduce my personal debt or increase my savings.
If I get to pay down some debt that frees up money every month to cover the higher cost of living while wages stagnate or slide. This will act as a stimulus.

The banks and financiers will have to pay the price of the lost interest on the outstanding debt but Tough Rocks. You went out on limb that apparently did not exist, with all our money looking for treasure you planned to keep. And now all the sudden you expect everyone to pay to build you a limb, and pay you to help us help you get rescued. Stop whining, you all caused this mess.

Capitalism trends toward privatizing the profits while it publicizes the costs.
The role of government is to prevent the publicizing of costs.
Attention: John McCain, this is how you limit CEO pay in a Capitalist system.

We are still Capitalists, aren’t we?

Julie, I do know that the Denver Dumb Friends League has just accepted a large number of cats directly from animal shelters in LA which were evacuated. Next week I'll be contacting them to see if they need any more families and will welcome a couple of them in to my home. I have 2 cats, but my home is more than large enough to take in a couple more who need a good family. They were very quick to evacuate the shelters when the orders came in. I also saw photos taken yesterday of the National Guard assisting a resident in evacuating their pets - 2 guardsmen were each carrying pet carriers out of someone's home.
