I posted the pictures yesterday of my dining room/front room. I think I’m okay with the how the dining area came out, but now I need help with the other half of that room. As you can see in these two pictures, my son has all his musical equipment sitting there. We are going to move all that up to the loft in the next picture, leaving that space empty.
I’ve got a very small section to work with, but I’d like to create some type of sitting area there. Along the white wall is 64 inches and along the red wall is 80 inches. I thought maybe a couple small chairs with a small table. I also had an idea to get a few pieces of a sectional and square it up to the wall. Don’t even get me started on light fixtures. I haven’t gotten that far yet.
Here is a 360 view of the room I have to work with:

Man I need my carpet cleaned!!! It’s a work in progress. Do any of you have any ideas?
living room, front room, loft, furniture
My suggestion is to either do the 2 chairs and a table with table lamp or get a corner sectional with 2 tables on the end and a hanging light, if you can do it. You want something that could seat 3 or 4 people. You don’t want anything too big.
If the picture that is there is going to stay I would take a color out of that and use it for the furniture color and table lamp color. If you do a hanging lamp tie that in with the other fixtures in the room.
Holly, those are some good suggestions, thanks! There isn’t any overhead lighting in that area, but that doesn’t mean I can’t send the hubby up in the attic to create one ![]()
Is there another sitting area nearby? I imagine the main living room is close - right? If so, I would avoid overwhelming the area with too much furniture.
What about a chaise lounge with a hanging lamp? I’m picturing a cozy spot for book reading or cuddling, but nothing really for socializing.
It’s hard to say without a 360 visual, though.
Amy - that room actually is the living room that I am trying to convert into a dining/sitting area. Our couches and TV are back in the family room. A chaise lounge would work also! Thanks for the suggestion.
Amy - I added some 360 views just for you!
Interesting. Now can you stitch them together and do a panorama video? Hehehe!
I’m going to stick with my original assessment. I’m also wondering how a room divider between that area and the dining area would look.
I would put a futon in that space, they have so many covers for them, that you can change when the urge hits you and not spend a ton of money doing so.

Nice suggestion Breezie, thanks!
My kitchen is just a bit darker than your red. It’s such a powerful and positive color and I’m so happy to see others really embracing it as well.
I would say that my carpet needs cleaning as well, but I think that one may just be a lost cause!

I think you need a disco ball and some bean bag chairs… and maybe a strobe and some lasers.
It looks like your floor gets a lot of wear judging by the carpet. I would consider laying a hard wearing laminate floor which would probably make the room feel bigger. You can always put a nice rug on it to break it up a bit if neccessary. A corner unit would be good for seating and maybe some subtle lighting from the ceiling. I would alsu use a lighter coloured matt finish paint on the walls. Sorry Hubby!

Mark - look at you suggesting all these changes! LOL! My husband is going to strangle you ![]()
Fancy - oh yeah, that would be hot! Then we could have raves.
cchiovitti - I’ll get new carpet when the teenage boys move out!
I was thinking something like this:

I call it a one and a half chair. LOL My bro and his wife had one and it was awesome! Bigger than a chair, but, not quite as big as a loveseat. And with a footstool.
And a tablelamp that has a table attached to it.
And isn’t that just a TOTALLY KILLER accent table???? OMG, love it! Don’t know if you’d have room for that with the 1 1/2 chair there, but, it sure would be PERFECT for your cozy reading corner, eh?
Lisa, OMG, I want that WHOLE set! Chair, table and lamp!
