julie with no makeup Okay, so I’m feeling a bit bold today, and I just put a picture of my face, sans makeup, on my blog for all to see. My skin is in dire need of something, but I’m just not sure what that something is. Looking at this picture has been painful for me. All the years I spent in the sun, before sunscreen was even a word in the dictionary, has taken it’s toll on my skin. I’m a faithful user of sunscreen now, but I’m afraid some of the past damage will never be erased, and my desire for younger looking skin is just a pipe dream.

I’ve heard a lot of buzz about microdermabrasion, which is the removal of dead surface skin on the face, and actually removes the sun-damaged skin. I never had a problem with acne, so I don’t have any scars, but I do have these dark spots here and there. They can easily be hidden and evened out with makeup, but sometimes a girl just wants to go all natural; well I do. There are days when I just don’t want to be bothered with makeup, especially in the hot summer days like we have here in Las Vegas. So what’s the word people? Should I try something like DermaNew Facial Rejuvenation, and will I really see a difference?

I know exactly what you mean about aging, the sun and wishing for the skin we had way back when.

Even though it’s pricey, I’m in love with the Arbonne REpair Corrective eye cream. All of their products are excellent but the eye cream is the best I’ve ever used. I intend to always have a supply of it.

Other than that, look for a Glycolic Acid product, a Retinol product and a Kojic Acid product. The Glycolic Acid and Retinol help with texture, wrinkles, fine lines. The Kojic Acid is a skin brightener/lightener. c.booth’s derma36 line is moderately priced and is available at Rite Aid.

Yes, Arbonne. I love, love, love the facial serum. Shoot me your address and I will send you a sample pack of our anti-aging line.

Hey Ang, thanks for the offer. I’m not “that” concerned with wrinkles, as I am the uneven skin tone with the dark spots. Does it work specifically for that?

MyAvatars 0.2 Jules on 11 August, 2008 at 5:36 pm

Thanks Marisa! Like I told Ang, it’s not so much the wrinkles that I am concerned with. It’s more the uneven tone and the dark spots.

Oh Marisa, I meant to say thanks also about the Kojic Acid information. That sounds like something I would use for sure!

I have been using the Dove Skin Revitalizer, it’s a little battery operated hand held face cleaning thing that has these little semi-abrasive pads that you attach to it.
I use it about 3 times per week, and have noticed a dramatic improvement in my skin.
It’s softer, smoother, those discolored spots are fading, the ruddiness is fading, and my crows feet actually look less noticeable.
It only cost about $8, and I think it was a great cheapo investment.
Replacement pads are about $5.

My face is seriously showing the effects of the sun I assume from my teenage years (I guess laying on tinfoil covered in baby oil wasn’t a good idea?) Anyway, I have had 3 fraxel treatments and am noticing real improvements. It means no new clothes for a while (expensive!) but I can’t get good skin at The Goodwill!

I’ve had microdermabrasion and I really liked it. The results were good, but didn’t last too long and I had to get several treatments done before I even noticed a difference. But they feel divine!

I’ve done the Obagi Blue Peel and had really amazing results. I could really use another one now, but they are quite pricey.

Cellex C skincare products are what I sell in my salon. Very expensive but even my Dermatologist told me they were the best for sun damaged skin. Thank God I can purchase wholesale!

I think before trying beauty products, you need to research first. There are many products promises to give you the best but never prove it. I believe you need to look for reviews. I hope i was able to help you.
