Tree Removal

See the tree on the left?

  • Yes, the one that provides shade to my bedroom, my son’s bedroom, our loft, and the foyer.
  • Yes, the one that help keeps the sun from beating down in the late afternoon when it’s 115 degrees outside.

My neighbor decided to cut it down this morning, raising the temperature in my house by about 10-15 degrees.

Thanks asshole. You tree hater you!

GAH! If it weren’t for all of our trees around the house, we would definitely have to have a/c. I feel your pain.

Ang, it was the ONLY tree around our house!

Was it on his property? No discussion at all. Go plant one in the same area on your property, that’ll show em!

Ben - it’s his tree, and he knocked on our door to tell us. I guess I could have chained myself to it, but it seemed a little extreme ;)

Oh and Ben…see the sidewalk? That is my property. There really isn’t much of a place to plant anything ;)

Mister and I just got interlined drapes at BB&B for $40/panel to cover our east-facing bedroom windows. What a HUGE difference that made, not just in helping regulate the temperature in the house (we’d been having upstairs/downstairs balance issues) but also helping Mister sleep past sunrise.

What a shame - it was a lovely tree. I have no idea what your neighbor was thinking.

Kirsten - for a “temp” solution I hung all our wool blankets that we use for camping in the winter over the windows. I managed to get it down to 78 in here, but it’s still only 10 AM ;)

Liz - His reasoning was that it was going to cause root problems in the “future.” Uh huh….okay.

Ugh. That really, really bites. What a lame reason. :(
