There are days when I just want to rip my hair out, just like today, but then of course I come to my senses and realize how much I love my hair. Hair loss is a devastating disease that effects people mentally just as much as it does physically.

I can’t imagine how I would feel if huge chunks of hair started falling out. Fortunately there is a place for help and it’s called the American Hair Loss Association. They also have a blog where you can read daily stories and updates.

So if you, or someone you know could benefit from the American Hair Loss Association, head over there and check out the site and the blog. They offer great support for those suffering from hair loss.

I’ve been sick pretty much all week with a cough, sore throat, and a stuffy nose. Then to top it off, I threw my back out and was flat out in bed last night, up until about noon today. I decided to get up and move to the couch, and I’ve been sucking down the Ibuprofen and watching movies. My back is still a little stiff, but it’s not the sharp shooting pains I was having yesterday. My cold seems to be going away also.

Michael and I got into a small tiff Wednesday night, and then I was sick, so he brought me home these GORGEOUS Starfighter Lillies Thursday night and two bottles of NyQuil. The nighttime formula and the daytime formula. He got a small nudge from a friend to do something nice for me, so he went with it. I owe her one. LOL!

Starfighter Lillies

This type of lily has one of the most fragrant scents. The minute you walk in our house the fragrance just fills your nostrils. I love them, and I love him. Even though I want to choke him at times, he’s still a wonderful man.

In fact, those flowers made me so happy that I actually let him go and GAMBLE with his friend in the casinos today! HAHA!

Dark Sky Festival Living in the city can be a drag. The city lights are so bright that you can’t see the stars, and I hate that. It’s especially bad living here in Las Vegas, where the skies look like daylight all the time from the light pollution of the casinos. This is one of the main reasons we go camping a lot, just to see the stars. Going to MeatStock and SoupStock with the local Dark Skies people here in town has been a blast also. They enjoy the night skies just like we do, and they know how to have fun.

If you live in Florida, you should make an effort to hit up the 5th Annual Dark Sky Festival in Harmony’s Town Square, in Harmony, Florida on Saturday, April 5, 2008. It will be a fun filled night looking through telescopes into the night sky with good friends and plenty of food to share.

There will be a special kids zone that will include a speaker talking about Myths in the Night. This is a great educational opportunity for kids to learn and grow up being earth conscience adults.

Oh and did I mention the best part? The special musical guest is going to be Rare Earth! Remember them from the Motown years? I just want to celebrate…another day of living….great song!

I’m not sure if you are aware of this or not, but do you know that our wildlife actually relies on the night darkness to survive?

“The Dark Sky Festival is intended to celebrate and promote the benefits of a night-sky free from the effects of excessive artificial lighting,” said Greg Golgowski, Harmony’s Conservation Director and a key member of the Dark Sky Festival Planning Committee. “Poor outdoor lighting not only washes out the splendor of the heavens, but also reduces visibility at night, wastes energy, and disturbs wildlife.”

Since Outback Steakhouse is our favorite restaurant to eat at, we had to go check out the Limited Time Offer Birthday Specials, and of course get a Bloomin’ Onion. The Outback and the Bloomin’ Onion are celebrating their 20th Birthday.

Outback - Bloomin' Onion

We had a really great time as always. Our favorite bartender and server (newlyweds) were working, so we got to chat with them awhile before dinner.

Michael had the Fresh Tilapia with Pure Lump Crab Meat and I had the Chargrilled Tuscan Rib Eye. Both meals were fantastic, and our Bloomin’ Onion was delicious. The grilled asparagus is to die for!

Here are a few notes of interest about the Outback Steakhouse.

  • It’s the first in the casual dining industry to offer a gluten-free menu.
  • Each year they send employees to the Middle East to serve their menu to 24,000 service men and women.
  • The Bloomin’ Onion is specially grown for them in the Idaho/Oregon Belt, Texas and Colorado, and is 16 ounces and 4.5 inches wide!

The Birthday menu specials run through the end of April, so gather up the family and go have a nice dinner out.
