I’ve been fighting a cold all week, and today it just kicked me in the butt. We had really fun plans for tonight, but I am just too sick to go anywhere other than under the covers in my jammies.

I feel the need to blog, although I can’t think of anything to write.

Hmmmm…

  • Michael, J.R., and I went to dinner at the Outback tonight. We haven’t been there since my mother came to visit in March of last year. All our “friends” were still working there, and our favorite bartender and server are getting married in March. I feel awful for not going in and visiting them sooner.
  • I got the boys new cell phones today. They needed an upgrade. Now I want a new one even though I am perfectly happy with the one I have. Well…until I saw the new ones!
  • Insecurity…it’s hitting me hard tonight, and I’m not sure why.
  • We got the movie “Tears of the Sun” from Netflix today, and it had a big crack right down the middle. I went to the website, and reported the damage. They said to send the damaged one back ASAP, and they would ship a new copy tonight. I’m impressed and satisfied.
  • We have a big night happening this Saturday. We’re going to the show Cirque du Soleil – Mystere (a gift from my bosses), then Michael’s company, Zappos.com, is hosting a party at the top of the Stratosphere. They have rented the entire observation deck for a private party with open bar, food, and unlimited ride passes. Free food, free alcohol, and unlimited thrill rides at 1,149 feet above the ground. It sounds like a disaster waiting to happen. I will be there with my camera. HA!

See…just start writing, and you will come up with something!

Me I am still amazed that I can go to any television network website and watch TV series online. I’m amazed I can login to my Netflix account and watch movies. I’m amazed that I can watch almost any video I could ever dream of watching on YouTube. I’m amazed I can download music from my computer and put it on a player that I can take with me. I’m amazed I can share my pictures with family and friends within minutes of taking them.

A little history of my internet life:

I’ve been “online” since 1993. I started out on a 1200 bps modem and the BBS. In about 1995, the “internet” came around and I dialed in with my GEnie account at around $18 bucks an hour. It was really hard to explain to my friends what the hell it was I did on my computer, but once AOL started sending out free CD’s, they all understood.

15 years…15 short years and all this has happened. Even my parents are online. I can’t even imagine what kind of things my children will be able to do with their computers when they are my age. What do you think we’ll be doing with our computers in 15 years?

Tell me your story of computers and the internet.
