I finally signed back up for Netflix today. We had it years ago, and I swore we had rented every movie they had in stock, so we canceled it. I was looking at it again this morning and saw they have tons of movies and series now, so I took the plunge. 4 movies at a time, and 24 hours of movies online, $23.99 a month. Not bad.

I added the following in my queue:

Then I got tired of looking, so that leaves me at 9 movies. I need to add more since 4 at a time is going to deplete my queue rather quickly. Do you have any suggestions for me?

i think you’ll be disappointed with 300…it wasn’t all that great…

Big Love - start with season 1! I’m currently cursing my plan because I won’t get a new DVD tomorrow. I’m cheap and have the one at a time deal.

Colleen - I’ve watched that since it started on HBO, and am anxious for new ones to start up again!

*rolls eyes* i can’t just go spurting off movie selections, it’s a difficult thought process.

What about:
National Treasure
Pirates of the Caribbean at Worlds End
In The Land of Women
Evan Almighty
AntiTrust
Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer

I dunno…it’s hard to say…

Movies!? There’s an entire interweb out there and you’re sitting around watching movies? This is the wave of tomorrow, ladies. Nowadays you just sit down and click and BAM! stock quotes, porn, articles that make you laugh ’til you wet yourself, more porn. Aw yeah. This is how we do it.

Teleolurian - I’m a “clean” movie buff, what can I say?

I use my netflix account mainly to check out indie movies, which I

Yipes, my comment got butchered :/ Er, anywho basically I tried to recommend the movie called A Mighty Heart to you. No idea what kind of movies ya like though. It’s a political drama based on true events. Oh and Reign Over Me was fantastic :)

I love my netflix!!!
Ok um, Ratatouille, smokin aces, FIDO (must see!), the descent, jesus camp (seriously interesting), children of men, pan’s labyrinth, hot fuzz, breach. Those are some of my faves that we rented.

i’m on the one at a time plan too, but that doesn’t stop me from having 497 movies in my queue!

crazy love
flowers in the attic
queer as folk
valley of the dolls
marie antoinette
the illusionist
coupling

My one suggestion: remove premonition. It is one of the worst movies i’ve seen in the last year. I don’t go to the theatre much, but stuff i recently saw and liked on dvd:
stranger than fiction
A scanner darkly
letters from iwo jima.

MyAvatars 0.2 Allison on 4 December, 2007 at 10:35 pm

Mind the Gap
I (Heart) Huckabees
another vote for Stranger Than Fiction and for Reign Over Me (great movie)
Waitress
Home for the Holidays
Family Man
Carrington
Love Actually

I’d go check some of the major film sites like Film Threat and Film Monthly. They’re always talking about what to rent and what to avoid, including plenty of stuff you probably wouldn’t have found otherwise.

MyAvatars 0.2 fancy on 8 December, 2007 at 11:56 pm

are you going to go to 300 - The Musical?

MyAvatars 0.2 Jules on 9 December, 2007 at 12:12 am

Fancy - oh hell no! I hated 300. The boys liked it (all 3 of them)

MyAvatars 0.2 Regina on 14 December, 2007 at 1:45 pm

the Science of Sleep
Idiocracy
Children of Men
The Prestige
Once
Ratatouille
Pan’s Labyrinth

You also might want to check out Rottentomatoes.com, they usually have decent movie ratings.
