So how is your day going so far? Many of us realized last night that our Google Page Rank was smacked down to a big fat ZERO, including JuliesJournal.com. We’re all scratching our heads wondering what is going on.

I’ve heard theories that it’s Google’s way of penalizing people who monetize their blogs. Or it’s certain companies banners on your sidebar. I really don’t believe this at all. Many blogs are showing PR0 this morning that never do sponsored post, or paid advertising. In fact, my companies website which was a PR4 yesterday, is showing a PR0 today.

I’m just a sitting duck waiting for my boss to come in freaking out and asking what is going on with our Page Rank. I wish I had an answer for him, but I don’t.

How did your blog weather the storm? Did anyone actually keep their Page Rank? Any theories on what is happening?

Digg this.

Two of my blogs had the pagerank smacked right off of them. And two did not. One that is less than a month old has a PR of 2 so I have no clue what is going on. I just started a 6th blog to have people vent their google frustrations called google is not god. I set it up during Postiecon. Heh.

I don’t think anybody bothers visiting me anyways, which is probably due to fear. But I’m under the mighty blogger.com umbrella anyways.

MyAvatars 0.2 Jenn on 15 November, 2007 at 11:19 am

I don’t know WHAT I think about it… I don’t think that it is necessarily a paid blogging thing, but my two newer blogs with no paid posting have retained the PR1. So far.

MyAvatars 0.2 Loretta on 15 November, 2007 at 12:11 pm

Well this morning my gadget blog still had a PR2 and now that is gone too. Maybe google is starting over?!

MyAvatars 0.2 alli on 15 November, 2007 at 12:14 pm

I am just working on spreading the love and gaining visitors. I had one blog that hasn’t been touched. The other two are at 0.

MyAvatars 0.2 Sean on 15 November, 2007 at 5:49 pm

My blog also drop to PR 0 now. Some of my friends never write paid post in their blog, but also demoted by Google.

MyAvatars 0.2 lasilasi on 15 November, 2007 at 7:37 pm

i write paid post, joined viralink and my page rank is not affected so far, guess it has nothing to do with paid post/exchange link…

MyAvatars 0.2 GregM on 15 November, 2007 at 9:11 pm

I’m lucky that my blog stayed at a PR1, but it’s discouraging as I try to start another blog. I think Google needs to be a bit more clear about how they come up with our ranking.

MyAvatars 0.2 Michael Woo on 15 November, 2007 at 11:25 pm

Ah~~ all my blog’s PR is gone.. all zerodified.. except one which I left doing nothing on it, got a PR1 since the last update..

But top blogs still got PR, does it mean Google is biased? :(

This is just a gimmick by Google, a little PR update scare and they will get all the publicity, shares goes up the roof and they make the money.. another way to monopolize the market as well.. nobody can sell links except them.. i’d sue them

I’m thinking of making a ‘I hate Google’ campaign :D wanna join me?

MyAvatars 0.2 Tammie on 16 November, 2007 at 12:12 am

I thought my laptop was messing with me again. Yep, I’m at PR0, too. I hope it IS just a google attention-grabber, but who knows?

MyAvatars 0.2 Tricia on 16 November, 2007 at 11:23 am

Hey Jules! I so wish I got to hang out with you more last week! You’re one fun girl! ;)

Tricia’s Musings and my gardening blog are still holding tight at their smack down rank of 3 but 7 of my husband and I’s other blogs went down to zero … some that don’t do paid posting or barely have especially in the last four months or so.

Also my 12 year old very popular and established website went down to a zero as well. I’ve got abdrite, google adsense and amazon on that as the only forms of advertising.

I’ve got no ideas what Googles up to but it sucks!

BTW the Blogrush widget brought me here!

MyAvatars 0.2 Liinda on 16 November, 2007 at 10:48 pm

I came over the same way that Tricia did – via the Blogrush Widget and what caught my eye was your post title as my blog went from a PR 4 to a PR2 on Sunday and then dropped all the way to a PR0 today. I don’t know what’s going on but it sure is highly frustrating! Highly! I hope that someone has an answer soon!

MyAvatars 0.2 madringo on 17 November, 2007 at 5:40 am

My PageRank was updated to PR4 last week, but when the Google Datacenters went down it now reads PR0 – I’d wish they’d sort it out already!

MyAvatars 0.2 Laura on 17 November, 2007 at 12:30 pm

My blogspot blog was a PR3 and now a 0. I already have a two months old domain ready to receive this one. As they are both 0 I probably have nothing to lose but still I don’t know if I should keep both or work out a good PR and traffic on the new domain.
This all situation is really confused. PR5 dropping to PR0… I really have no idea what is going to happen…

MyAvatars 0.2 Annette on 17 November, 2007 at 12:56 pm

I have no clue either. My blog had a PR of 3 and then it went to 2, now it’s a big fat 0. I’m thinking that page rank may be on it’s way out the door…or it should be.

MyAvatars 0.2 Charity on 17 November, 2007 at 7:46 pm

My PR4 blog went to PR2, my PR3 blog stayed the same, and my other blogs are all literally saying “unranked.” Not PR0, unranked. So who knows what Google is doing.

MyAvatars 0.2 awannabe on 18 November, 2007 at 7:47 pm

While at the same time I am reading posts on sites such as blogcatalog about people losing their page rank, mine went from 0 to
3. From the looks of it, your site looks like it gets a lot more traffic than mine does. Maybe you just can’t trust Google? I like Alexa stats.

MyAvatars 0.2 Mohd. Hashim Khan on 19 November, 2007 at 12:08 am

Same here ! One of my blog PR was 4 which is now 0, another one had 3 which is again 0 now, however two of my blogs are still having their same PR as before 4 & 2 but i doubt if that will also be taken away then I’ll be ruined :(

MyAvatars 0.2 simon on 19 November, 2007 at 5:06 am

it helps if you get a few stable backlinks from websites that have a higher pake rank than yours. try http://www.linqueue.com for example. it helps alot to my site :-) try and let me know

MyAvatars 0.2 lordmanilastone on 19 November, 2007 at 5:41 am

i also suffered the penalty, mine is from PR2 to zero, how could that be? I am so sad…

MyAvatars 0.2 James on 25 November, 2007 at 8:27 pm

just made my customized fearless campaign about google in my site.

im a PR2 now a PR0..

MyAvatars 0.2 John Raul Joven II on 11 January, 2008 at 3:51 am

My PR went 0 too. :(
I don’t have paid reviews or paid links.

MyAvatars 0.2 Cliff Posey on 10 April, 2008 at 7:44 pm

There have been times when it seems like Google dosen’t want anyone online to make money. Thar really dosen’t not make since because as websites make money there is more moey for us to spend on adwords and other forms of advertizing they have.

MyAvatars 0.2 Cliff Posey on 12 June, 2008 at 10:03 am

My site has a pr of 4 and has had the pr since February or March.
