I’ve always used my dishwasher as a sanitation appliance. What that means is I pre-wash everything that goes into it, and the dishwasher just sanitizes the dishes. For the last year or so the dish washing has been the kids chore. They take turns every other day, unloading and loading it, and neither one of them takes the time to pre-wash the dishes as I would like them to.
This really heebed me out, as I just couldn’t stand the thought of dirty dishes going into the dishwasher. HA! It’s not a new fancy dishwasher, and there is just no way these dishes are coming out as clean without the pre-washing. NO WAY!
It says right on the bottle, “No need for pre-washing” and the kids have used this against me.
Me, “J.R. make sure to pre-wash those dishes you are putting in the dishwasher.”
J.R., “No way mom, it says right on the bottle No need for pre-washing!”
Me, “I know honey, but it makes me feel better knowing they were pre-washed.”
J.R., “And it makes me feel better knowing that they are not lying about their product. I’m testing this out.”
Well guess what? They are coming out clean now that we use Cascade Complete. I refused to believe it for the longest time, and I had them test it for about a month. They come out sparkling each and every time. Even really bad stuck on food on the forks are coming out sparkling.
I never thought I could get over my phobia of the dishwasher, but I clearly can now. This stuff rocks!

I just read that you shouldn’t prewash your dishes - something about the … acidity?…in the soap, like the bits of food helps the soap work better?

I’m going to have to try some of this! At our house, none of my roommates clean off the dishes before putting them in the dishwasher either. I hate it, but what are you gonna do? Maybe I’ll have to try some of this stuff and see if it works for us as well.
