My kitty is driving me crazy, but I’m sure she is even more miserable than I am. Justin and I took turns holding her yesterday. She’s just like a baby. When we hold her, she settles down, and stops meowing. Last night I seemed to be the only one affected by her constant meowing, so I was up all night trying to make her feel better.

I called three vets this morning, on top of her regular one, and none of them will take her while she is in heat. One even told me it could last up to three weeks! And I think she has started to spray. When I came back from taking Justin to school, I could smell it right when I walked in the house. UGH!

I didn’t realize you had to wait so long to take care of this….that seems way too long. Poor cat…well, poor all of you!

Females don’t spray – at least not in the same way males do. They cansmell pretty powerful during their period, though. And, as you’ve been told, no vet will operate a cat or dog while they’re in heat. (I don’t know the reason for that, it just is.) Just hang in there! (None of my cats ever went 3 weeks in heat, either — it’s usually shorter, but it feels like an eternity.)

Worse yet is when a dog goes into heat and bleeds everywhere. In fact, you just gave me an idea for a blog post. Thanks :)

We had one cat that hadn’t been spayed when she went into heat, and she yowled loud enough to wake the neighbors…

Your poor little kitty… yeah, my vet charges more if the animal is in heat during the spaying, but I don’t think they’d take her KNOWING she was in heat beforehand. I think there’s a bigger risk involved.
