The bills are starting to roll in from my hospital stay. I was surprised on how much my private suite cost per night, just under $1000. The room was nice I guess for a hospital room, but a thousand dollar a night nice, I’m not so sure. Luckily we have one of the best health plans offered by an employee in the state of Nevada.

We get preventive medicine, with free exams once a year, and personalized health care, with specific doctors assigned to us, based on our needs. They are many new concierge medicine programs popping up all over the country. They hand pick their physicians, so you know you are getting the cream of the crop, and your doctor will never be too busy to see you, as they limit their patient load per doctor. They also offer benefits if you are on the road and away from your regular physician. They will assign one to you that will treat you as if you were one of their regular patients.

With the rising cost of insurance, I think doctors are going to be moving in the direction of concierge medicine, and start loving practicing medicine once again. They can relax from the hassle of the red tape insurance companies, and get down to doing what they do best. Making, and keeping their patients healthy.
