When I picked up my car pool kids at the high school yesterday, they were all talking about the threat that was made towards their school. Apparently some kids from another high school had said they were going to come to my kids school today and start shooting. UGH. It got around to the all the parents pretty fast, and of course the police were called.

So this morning on the news they told us that they couldn’t verify if this is a real threat, or just a rumor, but they have beefed up security with school and city police inside and outside the school. They assured us it was okay to send the kids to school, so that is what I did. One of JR’s friends called this morning and said his mom wasn’t letting him go, and I did tell JR it was up to him, but I felt it was safe for him to go. He went to school, he has a test.

So I’m here on the couch with the local news on, just watching for anything I might need to know. Of all the things that worried me about going to high school when I was young, being shot with a gun by another student never ever crossed my mind. It makes me sad.

How scary Jules. Like you the thought of someone bringing a gun to our highschool and shooting someone NEVER crossed my mind. Kids have a lot more stress these days.

Hello. I just wanted to tell you I know how you felt. The week after the VA Tech shootings my daughter’s school got two threats that someone was going to come into the school…the first one was for Apr. 20 and the other one was on Apr. 30. I couldn’t even tell you how horrible I felt. I took her out of school those days even though the school said that that would be alright but I guess it wasn’t. The school was safe and the kids got caught for doing it.

Jebus. When I was a kid, my biggest fear was being hit in the back of the head with a snowball.
