Michael got my laptop all apart yesterday to check it out. Amazingly enough, it wasn’t as dusty and dirty as we thought it would be. That was disappointing to say the least, because it would have been such an easy fix to blow out the grime with some compressed air, and start over. Upon closer inspection of the fan, he found the problem. He removed a huge dust bunny that was sucked up into the fan housing. YAY! He put it all back together, and I noticed immediately the fan wasn’t loud like it usually is.
I spent the remainder of the day reformatting, only to find out something went wrong this morning. When I went to install the wireless card, I got all kinds of missing and corrupt file errors. So back to the drawing board, and I am installing Windows XP again. It is so annoying that it flies right through the formatting process at a high rate of speed, then it stops at 99% for like an hour. Why can’t the bar just give the actual time instead of teasing me?

reformatting hard drives, installing Windows XP SP2
I’m hoping that my pc has a dust bunny in it, it roars when I turn it on. I don’t use it much because I think I’m going to break it.
It’s about time for me to reformat my lappy. I feel your pain. When I reformat, I usually do it right before bed so I won’t have to worry about the slow moving status bar, lol.
Have you tried threatening it with a big stick?
I need to open up my laptop and check for huge dust bunnies, but I’m scared. lol
