I had huge crushes on a couple of local DJs in New Orleans in the sixties. My friend and I would win contests pretty regularly and would take the bus downtown to go pick up our records or tee shirts or whatever. We always timed our visits to arrive just as either CC or Lou was getting off so we could talk to them in the lobby of th eradio station and slobber at their feet, lol!

Love the Wolfman story. I had never heard it before, but it sounds just so right for him, doeasn't it?

My favorites were DJs at Pacific radio, a free radio station in Houston in the 60s. They played music that did not get air time anywhere else.

The next Postie Carnival, held March 19th, will be hosted at CoolAdzine for Marketers (http://CoolAdzine.blogspot.com). The theme is March Holidays and Celebrations.

Here are just a few celebrations:

    * Women's History Month
    * International Women's Day
    * St. Patrick's Day
    * First Day of Spring
    * Baseball
    * Spring Equinox
    * Feast of Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary
    * Festival of Trees
    * Lady Day
    * Rites of Spring

Here are some birthdays:

    * Dr. Suess
    * Albert Einstein
    * Houdini
    * Alexander G. Bell

Of course, your holiday or birthday is not listed, but is welcome. Help me make this a wonderful carnival.

Thanks!

The old DJs knew how to play and talk about the music without all the wild theatrics of today's DJs!

I used to get to stay up and watch Midnight Special for a special treat once in a while. Man, I had totally forgotten about that. I didn't know that story about Wolfman Jack. How sad, but at least he got to give her a hug. I loved it when MTV had VJs. That original set was pretty cool.

That's a sad story! But at least he got to her before he died. It's so funny how people we've never met can touch our lives.

I've never had a "relationship" with any DJs, probably because I don't listen to the radio that much AND I didn't grow up with MTV. But this is a great list! I recognize Martha Quinn, so I guess I am not too behind on pop culture.
