Michael and I were watching Travel Channel Secrets on the Travel Channel the other night and we discovered the most beautiful place ever, Havasupai Reservation. We got all excited about going there, so we are starting to plan a week long trip in the Spring of 2006.
There are four ways to get to Havasu Falls and the campground where we will be staying. You can take a 30 minute helicopter ride including a gourmet picnic when you arrive. You can ride in on a horse that will take you about 3-5 hours. You can hike, but have horses carry your things at a 50 lb per person maximum. Or you can get there by the “Julie and Michael” method. A 3-6 hour hike with everything we would need for 4 days and 3 nights strapped onto our backs.
This will be my first ever backpacking trip, but I have quite a few months to get my body, mind, and heart in shape so I wont be miserable the whole time hiking.
Michael has the majority of all the gear we will need, except I will have to get myself a backpack. I looked around on the REI web site and found this one I liked, but he said I need to buy my backpack last after I have all my gear. That way I get one that isnt too small, or too large. Makes sense to me, but I still like that one. Hehehe.
He did buy me this yesterday while he was on his lunch break. I was admiring it a few weeks back and he remembered. It is so unbelievably soft, and most definitely the best ever jacket I have ever owned! If I havent said this before, (HA!) Hes the greatest!
Tonight he is hosting “Board Game Night” at our house with his friends, but first they are going to Sushi Mon for all-you-can-eat sushi. Luckily I found something on the menu that is COOKED so I will be joining them, at least for dinner. If they werent such geeks and played Monopoly or Trivial Pursuit I would have joined in on the board games. But they play games like Carcassonne – Hunters and Gatherers, DVONN, Octiles, and Puerto Rico. I will pass thankyouverymuch.
I have some work to do for “work” this weekend so I will take advantage of this alone time to get that done. That will certainly free up my work load next week.
I can’t believe the falls are just down the street!!! They are so beautiful and look so refreshing. This camping trip is going to be so fun, but first I have to plan a few shorter ones so we can figure out what to bring and what not to. I just can’t wait! I must make a guild once all is said and done.
Thanks you so much for coming to sushi… I’d thought I’d never see you that close to people eating raw fish, but I guess you had your fill of tempura shrimp, YUM!
I’ll trade you two sheep for some wood. We had fun board gaming. There will be plenty more nights, I’m sure. You should sit in at least once, baby!
Your 2006 trip sounds great! Although my feet would never be able to handle it.
The jacket is gorgeous and I’m sure it looks great on you too! Woo hoo Michael – good job!
Have a great week!
Camping sounds…Okay, I hate camping thanks to my ex’s adventures in finding a field in the middle of the night, but glad you can enjoy it. Cute coat!
Do they ever play any games with these?

Very big with geeks here, including my oldest son and friends.
Hey Julie, can you drop me an email with your and guy’s contact email if you get a chance? Thanks!
Sorry Dee Dee! Never played any of those games, but I’m sure I will be soon enough. I have forwarded the url to our resident gamer! Thanks
